I am working on a blog about how chronic illness effects your ability to organise. I have only experienced debilitating physical pain the last six months and already the world feels like a totally different place.
I want to ask you about your experiences…
- How has been ill affected your ability to participate in different struggles?
- How supportive or unsupportive have you found other people, especially those that self-identify as anarchists?
- What would have made these experiences radically different for you, or what still could be done?
- What are the main things you wish people would understand?
- How has it all made you feel?
I want to be totally radically honest that until this period in my life I was most likely totally ableist. While I’ve supported multiple friends, family and partners with illnesses such as chronic fatigue, CPOD, cancer, injuries & accidents, as well as a whole spectrum of mental health challenges…
I still had no fucking idea how the world felt when you feel physically vulnerable, in pain or simply unpredictable because of flare ups etc. I know I’m in a privileged position because my condition is healable and I have tons of support on multiple levels.
I seem to have found myself as some kind of weird burnout celeb..!! Getting thousands of hits on my website and a global readership. People need to know how it feels, be exposed to the barriers and we all need to redesign our movements so no one is left behind.
Please email me when/if you have the time and energy. Please be specific about if you want to be anonymous, your pronouns and if you have any links etc to you that you wish to be included.
Likewise please specify clearly and explicitly if anything you write to me is confidential (otherwise I’ll try to integrate it the best I can into the blog).
Also if I am slow to reply, it is not because I do not value your words or experiences, it’s just because I’m also unwell and struggling to stay on top of the inbox!!
Thanks so much. My email is email@example.com
